The Citadel

Strategically overlooking the town and the plains to north, the citadel is part of Brasov's outer fortification system. In 1524 the first wooden defence walls were erected, replaced between 1554 and 1690 by the four massive stone bastions you see now. The citadel was abandoned in the 17th century, after technological innovations made cannons stronger than the building. The Citadel has in recent years hosted a restaurant, cafe and nightclub amongst other things, never fulfilling its real potential. It is, however, gorgeously lit at night, and there are splendid views if you care to walk all the way up.

 There are two ways to reach to the fortress, one is taking the pedestrian narrow path which is shorter but a bit adventurous and the second one is along the road of the cars which is longer but better and safer way. I would reccomend to follow the first option in climbing and the second way when you are going down the hill, of course only if you plan to go there on foot and the weather is nice.

Tâmpa    is a mountain, part of the  Postăvarul  Massif , located in the southern part of the  Eastern Carpathians  (alternatively categorized as in the  Curvature Carpathians ) and almost entirely surrounded by the city of  Braşov . Its elevation is 960 m (995 m according to some sources), almost 400 m above the city.   The mountain is mostly made up of  limestone  formations, having risen up gradually from the Earth's  crus t .   Most of the mountain (1.5 km²) is a declared  nature reserve , due to the rare animal species ( bears ,  birds ,  butterflies —35% of  Romanian  butterfly species) and plant species (a rare  Liverleaf  variety,  Transylvanian   Windgrass ) that are found there. Poiana Brasov

Poiana Brașov   is one of the most popular Romanian ski resorts. It's an important tourist centre preferred by many tourists not only from Romania, but also from other countries. In 2013, it hosted figure skating, alpine skiing and short track in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival. It is located at about 1,020 meters (3,379 feet) above sea level near the city of Brașov  and it is easily accessible by road. There are regular buses  which serve the 12 km route between Brașov and Poiana Brașov (line 20 and 100). The resort also runs minibuses to take visitors from hotels to the base of the ski runs from where they can hike or take a cable car to Cristianu Mare or Postăvaru summits. Hello! We are 4 students from Brasov, and we decided to make this blog for everyone who is planning to come to Brasov. On this blog we provide you information about the representative sights of Brasov along with some tips to get around the city. Besides us providing you information, you can also write us an email if you want us to come along with you trough the city and give you a more in depth tour of the city.  You might be wondering how we got this idea, and if we are qualified to provide you information about our city. This blog started of as a school project and we decided to keep it so we can help other people. Also, we are all volunteer tour guides at the Black Church. This means that we went to a several month course where we were taught a lot about the city, and especially about the Black Church, so we would say that we can provide you lot of information about the city, maybe more in depth than you can find anywhere else.
